Today we visited the Dermatology Hospital!
We were first able to listen to Dr. Kampirapap, who lectured on introductions to leprosy, chromoblastomycosis, and subcutaneous mycoses.
After lunch, we were able to join the Thai pharmacy students in a special lecture, which included Dr. Kampirapap having 9 of his patients come in. Each patient was somewhere in the middle of treatment for either their leprosy or a mycosis. Each patient came in one at a time, and we were able to see the signs and symptoms that they presented with for their condition. For the patients, this was an actual follow up for their condition/treatment, where Dr. Kampirapap would check on the status of all of them on the spot and make decisions in that moment on how to proceed with their therapy. Some patients were told to continue their regimen, others were told to stop their therapy, and others regimens remained the same ut the doses were decreased.
It was an amazing experience to see the Dr.'s ability to quickly and accurately assess his patients and proceed with their therapy.
