Today we had a cultural day. We checked out of our hotel in Bangkok for a weekend of cultural experiences outside the city. We first went to the Damnoan Saduak floating market. This truly was an amazing experience. We walked through many stalls of vendors at first until we hit a small canal where we boarded a small five person boat. We then got transported up and down the canal stopping at whatever vendor we wanted along the way. The culture allows for extreme bargaining and we were told we should aim to pay half of what was initially told by the seller. It was definitely a weird way to purchase goods and took some getting used to! The sellers however were particularly aggressive and really wanted you to buy so whenever you pointed at something you liked, you should be well prepared to actually buy it. We had lunch here and then we boarded the buses again to head to the Dolphin Bay Resort. We arrived and got to spend some much needed time relaxing and enjoying the Gulf of Thailand. We all got dinner together and enjoyed some more local Thai cuisine. It was a very awesome and relaxing day!
